Community United Services, Inc.
A Punta Gorda Hub for Teens Family Seniors Community Connection
Who We Are
Community United Services, Inc.(CUSI pronounced QC) is a not for profit organization committed to provide educational, cultural and life enrichment programs, services and access to resources that meet the personal needs of the underserved while cultivating community involvement and participation. With a focus on youth, seniors and families, our aim is to create a thriving hub where one can go to learn, play, connect and thrive while building community spirit and support.
Our main aim is to reestablish programs and services that will meet the needs of Charlotte County’s diverse communities. Our programs and services will be provided in a safe, caring, encouraging and supportive environment.
Teens
The aim of Community United Services, Inc. (CUSI) Teen Service is to provide an enriching, learning, welcoming, mutually respectful and safe environment and to provide resources that will help teens close the achievement gap by instilling the mindset and tools needed to pursue college, employment or trade school successfully. CUSI Teens will engage with businesses, colleges/universities, trade schools, the general public and teens from other organizations.
To better understand the power of diversity and opportunities within their community, the “Neutral Zone” is a drop-in, teen-led program open to middle and high school students aged 13 years and older. The out-of-school program offers field trips, life and job skills training and community service volunteer opportunities.

Family
Community United Services, Inc. (CUSI) believes in being of support to children and families and to provide the tools and access to the resources they need to be successful. Our ultimate focus is to keep families together, by providing the services and support needed to keep the youth and parent engaged.
Presentations, parental activities and social events will be provided to give parents/guardians the opportunity to gain new skills. Activities for children will be provided to give some parental “ME” time.
Seniors
The aim of Community United Services, Inc. (CUSI) Senior Service is to provide the support, resources and encouragement necessary to allow seniors to age-in-place and to fulfill the wisdom sharing of their knowledge, interests and talents while maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
The “Young at Heart Zone” offers seniors serving seniors programs with activities for continued learning, exercise and well-being, fraud prevention and home safety, connection with young and old, and economic opportunities through community service volunteer opportunities; hence, strengthening the core and self-value of older adults through companionship, recreation and socialization.
CUSI is Charlotte County’s Senior Volunteer Station for two programs of Dr. Piper Center:
Senior Companion Program: Volunteers 55 years or older stay active by helping seniors live a quality life as they age-in-place at home. Services provided may include transportation, respite/relief to Caregivers; assistance with light chores; and communication and social interaction.
Foster Grandparent Program: Volunteers 55 years or older help our youth enhance their learning and social skills. Services provided include help that enhance reading, comprehension and writing skills; encourage compassion, emotional support and bridge generation gaps; and, restore and reinforce a sense of community and family values.
Senior Companion & Foster Grandparents Programs are federally funded by Americorps.
CUSI & Dr. Piper Center collaborative programming is now serving elderly clients with the help of volunteers who have completed FDLE Level II background screening and 20 hours of service training and program orientation. If you need the service or know someone who does, call (941) 479-2005 to schedule an appointment or Email your needs via the link below or directly to seniors@cusipg.org
